We only had one day in Mauritius, so we decided against the catamaran trip everyone was going on. Instead, Colby, Alanna, Chels, Trip, Mitch and I found a taxi driver named Richard who took us around the whole day for $35 each. Our first stop was a dormant volcano on top of a beautiful lookout point where we took pictures before heading to the Black River Gorges.
Once at the gorges, we started our hike through mud, rocks and rivers to get to the most amazing waterfall I've ever seen.
It had a small pool at the top and I couldn't even tell you how far the drop was below.
We all hung out there for a few hours and enjoyed the beautiful day before heading back to Richard and a local Mauritian restaurant. I got the Indian sampler plate which came with some very delicious ice cream.
Our final stop was a picturesque beach with clear blue water where we swam and relaxed before heading back to the ship. Though a very short day, it was packed with some cool people and beautiful sites. If only we could've stayed longer, but we had Sea Olympics and India ahead.
Sea Olympics was a full day event that consisted of scavenger hunts, pull-up contests, human knot competitions, synchronized swimming and more. It was a lot of fun and my team came in...last!
