We docked in Hilo on Thanksgiving Day. It was fun but also meant many things were closed. Mike, Brian, Woody and I decided to go for a run to the Walmart to get some equipment for that day's barbecue at the beach. After stocking up on beer and food, we jumped in our cab and enjoyed the somewhat rainy day swimming, barbecuing and using our phones since we finally had service after 2.5 months.
Just after our quick day in Hawaii was my 21st birthday! Although a rather unconventional birthday since we were in the middle of the ocean, my Field Office and Admin team sure made it memorable. They threw me a surprise party in our office and had balloons and streamers and even a few surprise guests - Chelsea and Anna.
A few days later we had the Alumni Ball, a dinner and dance for the ship community. I had a stacked table with Mike, Anna, Ben, Sara and Bobby. But of course we also had to get a quick Field Office and Admin crew team pic during the festivities.
With the long stretch of sea behind us, we were on to our next port, Costa Rica.
