Day One in Oslo, Norway
I will start off by saying we purchased the Oslo pass, but at $70 I'm not entirely sure if we ended up saving any money. It included free city transportation and museum passes, so pretty much everything during our two day itinerary. With our pass in hands, we started by boarding the ferry to Bygdoy to get to the Viking Museum. The museum housed three viking ships from the 9th century that once were used as burial ships.
A short walk from the Viking Museum was the Folk Museum. It was certainly not as exciting as the Viking museum, but a lovely way to avoid the rain. We ventured back down through the cute area to the ferry and enjoyed a nice lunch on board the MV before popping over to City Hall. Though not very pretty from the outside, City Hall had a huge inside and large rooms to walk through.
We continued our day at to the Royal Palace, which reminded me of the NY Botanical Garden. Unfortunately, we witnessed a baby duck getting eaten by a seagull.
Then we headed to the Historical Museum, my least favorite of all of the museums of the day.
Luckily, our day was only just beginning because we had tickets to Beyonce at the Telenor Arena. The arena was predominantly for soccer and our seats were on the complete opposite side of the stage lengthwise. Lido Lido, a Norwegian hip-hop/rap artist, was the opening act. And then it was time for Beyonce...the highlight of the day.
Day Two in Oslo, Norway
Maddie, Christie and I decided to kick off the day by exploring Akershus Fortress, a random Castle, and a Fjord Cruise. It was a two hour cruise and really fun, albeit a tad chilly.
We jumped off the boat and onto the 12 tram to get to the Vigeland Sculpture Park, a must see attraction in Oslo.
Next up was a tram ride to the Opera House. The Opera House was a really neat building because you could walk along the roof, which of course we did.
We didn't have much time before debarkation so we headed to an area called Karl Johans Gate to grab some food before jumping back on the ship.
